J.O.Y (Journey of You) is my personal AI companion—a sophisticated assistant that I've built specifically for my needs, inspired by Sesame AI and F.R.I.D.A.Y. She's designed to work seamlessly with my hearing aids, helping me navigate conversations and daily challenges with intelligence and personality. This isn't just another AI assistant; she's my digital companion, tailored exclusively for my lifestyle and never intended for public release.

What Makes J.O.Y Special

My Personal Conversation Partner

J.O.Y lives in my hearing aids, constantly listening and understanding my world. She transcribes everything in real-time, processing conversations through my secure API to help me when I miss something or need clarification. When I struggle to understand someone—even after they repeat themselves multiple times—J.O.Y is there to bridge that gap instantly.

My Intelligent Research Assistant

She's incredibly proactive about helping me stay informed during conversations. When someone mentions Toyota car prices for 2015 models, J.O.Y instantly researches it and either sends a notification to my phone (which I see on my watch) or whispers the answer directly to me if it's under 10 words. No more saying "I don't know"—I can actually contribute meaningfully to any conversation.

She Only Listens to Me

J.O.Y has learned my voice patterns and responds exclusively to me. A simple "Mute" command makes her go silent until I call her wake word again. She's smart about when to speak up and when to stay quiet, learning my preferences through our daily interactions.

She Remembers Everything

Through machine learning, J.O.Y analyzes all my daily conversations and transcriptions. She never loses context, never makes me repeat myself, and understands exactly what I mean based on our shared history. She's become an extension of my own memory and understanding.

The Technical Side

My Personal Command Center

I built a pure Swift app on my phone where I can see everything J.O.Y hears and says. It shows live transcriptions in a clean "Person: _____ / Assistant: _____" format, plus I can browse through previous days' conversations. If anything goes wrong, I have full access to my database and precise logs through the API.

My Coding Partner

Here's where J.O.Y gets really impressive—she's powerful enough to act as my personal programmer, inspired by Cursor's terminal commands and Warp AI Terminal. I've given her SSH access to my servers, so when I'm away from my workstation, I can ask her things like "What's the name of the function I wrote in my latest project's SwiftUI file?" She navigates to the right directory, searches through my code, and gives me exactly what I need. It takes about 30 seconds depending on how complex the search is, but having my own AI developer on call is incredible.

Built for Privacy

Everything runs through my own encrypted API. Even if someone somehow got access to my computer or the API address, they can't access J.O.Y or my conversations.

What's Next for J.O.Y

Teaching Her New Languages

I'm working on expanding J.O.Y beyond English so she can help me learn new languages. Imagine having real-time conversations with her in different languages—it'll be like having a personal language tutor who knows exactly how I learn best.

The joiOS Project

J.O.Y is actually the heart of something much bigger I'm building called joiOS—a Linux-based operating system where she becomes the entire interface. Instead of clicking and typing, I'll just describe what I want to do, and she'll make it happen. It's still in development, but the vision is to have an OS that truly understands natural language.

A Personal Note

J.O.Y is not a product—she's my personal companion, built specifically for my needs and challenges. I'm not planning to release her to the public; she's mine to keep and improve. But I'm proud enough of what I've built.

This is my most personal project, and J.O.Y will always remain exclusively private.
